AL HASA

A striking colt by Australian super sire Exceed and Ecel out of the very good racemare Oasis Rose, Al Hasa was purchased by David Ellis from the Karaka Premier Sale.

Raced by the Te Akau 2017 Breeding Sundicate (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM) he cost $625,000 from the draft of Cambridge Stud.  Trained by Stephen Autidge and Jamie Richards, he started his future stallion career off in fine fashion when winning the $50,000 Listed Barneswood Farm Welcome Stakes at Riccarton in November 2018 - at only his second start.

Al Hasa's win was Te Akau's sixth win in the Welcome Stakes - following on from Maroofity, Xbert, Encosta Diablo, Bespoke and Sassy 'n' Smart.

On new Year's Day 2018 Al Hasa finished fourth in the $70,000 Group 3 Eclipse Stakes en route to his smashing second in the Karaka 2YO Million in the hands of Champion Australian jockey Hugh Bowman, also at Ellerslie later that month.

Sadly we never saw the best of this talented colt who passed away later that year.
