Heroic Valour

Trained by Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards, Heroic Valour was purchased by David Ellis from the 2015 Karaka Premier Sale for $400,000.  He joined filly Il Piu Veloce (sales' topping lot) and Snitzel colt Epic Tale to make up the Te Akau 2015 Breeding Syndicate (Mgr Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM).

The son of Fastnet Rock won on debut at Trentham in late January 2016 and then made it two wins from two starts when claiming the $50,000 Listed Reid & Harrison Slipper at Matamata on 27 February 2016.  This is a race Te Akau has won five times and with star racehorses such as Darci Brahma.

His stakes' win was his sire's 90th and also brought up stable rider Matt Cameron's 1000th career victory - appropriately in the Te Akau tangerine.

On Auckland Cup Day at Ellerslie on 12 March 2016, he made it three from three when victorious in the coveted and highly valuable Group 1 Sistema Diamond Stakes over 1200m - a race that boasted the creme de la creme of the country's juvenile talent.  Ridden by Jonathan Riddell, Heroic Valour was a comfortable winner - and took his stakes to $157,500.

That win saw him become his superstar sire Fastnet Rock's first Group 1 two year old winner.

Resuming at his first start as a 3YO, Heroic Valour showed huge courage to overcome a wide draw and a check in the running to claim the $50,000 Listed Tavistock Northern Breeders' 3YO Stakes over 1200m - retaining his unbeaten record.

Te Akau principal David Ellis held Heroic Valour in such high regard that he purchased his full brother for $510,000 at the 2016 Karaka Premier Sale to join four other colts in the Te Akau 2016 Breeding Syndicate (Mgr Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM).
