Risque

Risque was bred and is raced by The Oaks Stud and trained by Te Akau NZ trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards.

The daughter of Darci Brahma became the training team's second stakes' winner for the 2015/16 season when she claimed the $70,000 Listed Armadillo Stakes over 1600m at Riccarton on 24 October 2015 - a traditional lead-up race to the Guineas, this race has provided the Group 1 Guineas' winner on a number of occasions.

Risque won on an auspicious day for her sire Darci Brahma who was bought by David Ellis for $1.1 million from Karaka.  Darci won five Group 1 races on both sides of the Tasman for then Te Akau NZ trainer Mark Walker before being retired to stud at The Oaks Stud - who race Risque.  Darci's progeny added to Risque's success by also winning the Group 1 Windsor Park Plate and Listed Soliloquy Stakes as well as enjoying success in Australia.

Having won one of the traditional lead up races into the $300,000 Group 1 NZB NZ 1000 Guineas, the filly duly captured that even in fine style on 14 November 2015 with Matt Cameron aboard.  Her success made it a Group 1 2000/Group 1 1000 Guineas double for Te Akau trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards.

Risque has raced six times for three wins and two second placings and stakes of $233,725.
