Spellbinder

Spellbinder showed early on that she was a special filly.  Winning her first three trials, one as a 2YO, she debuted impressively with a runaway win at Taupo on 9 September 2013.  The step straight up to stakes' company proved no obstacle as she rewarded trainer Jason Bridgman's faith in her with a 6.5 length win in the $50,000 Listed Soliloquy Stakes at Ellerslie on 28 September 2013.

Her excellent performances at the elite level continued when she was runner up in the Group 3 James and Annie Sarten Memorial at Te Rapa on 28 October 2013 before travelling south and finishing third in Group 1 NZB Insurance 1000 Guineas at Riccarton in November 2013.

Further black type success followed with Spellbinder claiming the $100,000 Listed Karaka Mile for 3YOs on Karaka Million night in January 2014.  In February 2014 she was a bold second in the Group 2 Cambridge Stud Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic at Te Rapa.

Purchased by David Ellis from the Karaka Select Sale for $60,000 this O'Reilly filly out of Scenic Sprint is raced by the Te Akau Spellbinder Syndicate (Mgr DC Ellis) and has raced nine times for four wins and three placings with stakes of $166,810.
