It's Tiffany's Time - Indeed

A clear favourite from the outset, Tiffany's Time (3 f Alamosa - Tinsel Time, by More Than Ready) paved the way for a Te Akau quinella on 26 October at Avondale.

Tiffany's Time beat stable-mate Madam Monica (Mastercraftsman) in the Racing @ Avondale 2 November Maiden 3YO 1400 metres, with both showing improvement on their races a fortnight ago at Ruakaka.

Jockey Matt Cameron settled Tiffany's Time back in the field on a competitive early pace, moved to within striking distance at the 600m, and despite being checked on straightening was able to rally before drawing clear over the concluding stages.

Madam Monica, ridden by Cameron Lammas, also suffered interference in the incident at the 350m and was game in effort thereafter.

Tiffany's Time returned $2.70 & $1.30 on the tote and ran the 1400 metres in 1:27.9, last 600m in 36.7, on Dead6 footing for trainers Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards.

“She's been there or thereabouts right the way through this campaign, we've had a bit of an opinion of her and it was a tough effort today,” said Te Akau Racing Manager Brad Taylor.

The win was just rewards for owners in the Te Akau Tiffany Syndicate (Mgr: D C Ellis), after three notable performances and only a head separated her from the winner last start.

“What an exciting race, with Matt (Cameron) coming out on top aboard Tiffany's Time,” Ellis said.

“She's a filly I bought at the Select Sale from Greg Tomlinson's Nearco Stud, and she has some really good owners - from all around New Zealand.

“There are owners from Auckland, Hamilton, Taranaki, Mosgiel, Matamata, it's great to see they've got this filly and I think she has a lot of improvement in her next year too.  Jamie (Richards) said to me before the race, ‘I think Tiffany's Time will win and Madam Monica looks a good place chance' and she paid over eight dollars for a place, so all credit to Jamie for being spot on.

“Madam Monica is a lovely, big filly with plenty of scope, owned by Gavin and Shane Wealleans, and they're going to have a lot of fun with her,” Ellis said.

Tiffany's Time was purchased for $55,000 at the 2015 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale Series, from the draft of Bradbury Park, and at the time of buying Ellis said: “She is a beautiful looking filly with a nice Northern Dancer cross through the sires on both sides of her pedigree.

“She has terrific balance, exudes class, and from an imported stakes winning daughter of More Than Ready (Southern Halo) - a sire that has done a fantastic job at stud.   She was very good buying and we are delighted to have secured another lovely daughter by the promising young sire Alamosa."

Her sire, Alamosa (O'Reilly), was a super racehorse that won three races as a two-year-old, including the Diamond Stakes (Gr. 1, 1200m); the Thorndon Mile (Gr. 1, 1600m) at Trentham, and Toorak Handicap (Gr. 1, 1600m) at Caulfield.
