Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Heavy fog at Matamata this morning severely hindered the timing of horses as they got through their work ahead of another busy weekend of racing.

On the plough Te Rapa entries Zambezi Warrior (Bosson) and Beaumarchais (McNab) were paired in strong work over ground and were able to be timed over their last 1200m in 1:20.3 and 1000m in 1:03.8. Zambezi Warrior was slightly disappointing in the Counties Cup at his last start but should be given another chance in Saturday's Waikato Cup.

Irish Moon (S Weatherley) shaped up well for Awapuni on Saturday with strong work over 1000m in 1:01.7, while All Razzle Dazzle (Gorham) and Raspberry Sweet (Handley) covered the same ground in 1:03.9.

Roll the Gold (Hills) also did sound work over 1000m in 1:02.8, Aero de Paris (S Weatherley) took 1:03.5 and Barnaby (S McKay), who steps up to 1600 metres at Tauranga on Friday, clocked 1:06.3.

Hot In High Heels (N Turner) travelled strongly to the end of 1200m in 1:25.8, Wildflower (Roff) and Four Degrees (Handley) ran the same trip in 1:24.8 with their last 1000m in 1:08.6, and Mistrahma (Cox) took 1:19.2 and 1:05.8.

Over 1000m Katie Perry (Fawcett) and Golden Song (Abel) returned 1:03.2, while Amazing Banker (Osborne) and Perroquet (Ravi) 1:03.8.

Amongst those who could not be timed in any way, Ocean Emperor, Wisdom Patch and Watch This Space also looked on target for their weekend assignments.

Ocean Emperor will run at Awapuni on Saturday as a lead-up to the Zabeel Classic, while Watch This Space runs in the feature sprint at Te Rapa and strapping juvenile Wisdom Patch will make his debut at Ellerslie on Sunday.
