Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Sleeping Beauty looked ready for a return to her best form when she galloped impressively at Matamata this morning.  Working 20 metres out on a heavy course proper, Sleeping Beauty (S Weatherley) relished the conditions as she bowled over 1200m in 1:21.6, 1000m in 1:06.5 and hit the line full of running after a final 600m in 38.3. The Lance O'Sullivan/Andrew Scott-trained mare has had two unplaced runs this preparation on dead tracks, but the prospect of heavy ground when she lines up in the open sprint at Pukekohe this weekend brings her right into the reckoning.

Kitaya (Dowling) also underlined his weekend prospects when he worked with Clarios (Coleman) over 1000m in 1:08.9 and 600m in 40.8. The grey won well at Pukekohe last month and appears to be in the right order for Saturday.

Slow Hand (Yanagida) and Fortune Patch (S Weatherley) prepared for Pukekohe with smart work over 1000m in 1:09.3 and 39.2, while Lady Painton (Newman) and Grand Ariana (Rusof) were also in good form over the same ground in 1:09.1 and 39.7.

Codecracker (Coleman) and Adis (Winters), maiden candidates for next Wednesday's local meeting, got through their work well over 1000m in 1:10.2 and 39.8.

Liquid Inspiration (Danis) took time honours on the sand, where she cut out 1000m in 1:03.8 and 37.4. She may run on her home track next week.

Master Poet (M Brosnan) strode through 1200m in 1:23.8, 1:08 and 41, while Jetwings (S Weatherley) covered the same ground in 1:21.4, 1:05.8 and 38.2.

Future Patch (S Weatherley), who runs at Hastings on Thursday, was given easy work, finishing off with 600m in 45.8. Playing Up (Dowling) was well held over 1000m in 1:12.5 and 41.6, while Underthemoonlight (K McQuade), who looks improved for her recent fresh-up run, had an easy time over 1000m in 1:18.8 and 45.3.

On the all-weather track Alphastar (Danis) was timed over 1000m in 1:09.6 and 40.6. Veine d'Or (Winters) strolled in from the 800m in 1:01.2 and 45.3.
