The big trial grass and the plough were both open for fast work and the course had dried considerably during the week which produced fast times on the grass where the markers were on the inside and the going was a firm Good3.

Barneswood Farm Stakes contenders at Ashburton this Saturday displayed their fitness with an interesting clash looming between Prom Queen and Sensei. Both worked on the grass with Sensei (Moore) galloping with stablemate Savvy Coup (Morgan) over 1000 metres in 1.03.7, the final 400m in 23.6. Latter in the session Prom Queen (L. Rae) and Augustace (K. Rae) were timed from the 800m in 50.4, getting to the line strongly over the final 400m in 23.4.

The in-form Locally Sauced (Wynne) was one of the best on the plough this morning when timed from the 1000m in 1.12.3 but finishing the work strongly over the last 600m in 35.1. Sensibility (Young) also worked well from the 800m in 50.6, speeding-up from the 600m in 36.1.

The Te Akau pair of Swing Note (Miller) and Grazia (Newman) were timed together from the 1200m in 1.22.1on the plough with the last 800m in 49.3. Sweet Time (Shaikh) did similar work but galloped solo on the grass from the 1200m in 1.22.4, the last 600m in 38.3. Her stablemate No Emotion (Shaikh) showed he is getting fitter when he covered 1200m in 1.19., also on the grass, coming home the final 600m in 36.2.

Fastest time over 1000m on the grass this morning was recorded by the Pitman trained Flying Ibis (Shaikh) and Kinagat (Moore) who galloped the distance together in 1.02.3, the final 600m in 34.9. Son Of Maher (Shaikh) wasn't far off that time for the same distance in 1.03.7, the last 600m in 36.7. Another stablemate O'Kiwi (Gundowry) was timed to run his 1000m on the grass in 1.04.4, the final 600m in 36.1.

Fire Lily (L Robinson) went alone over 800m in 48.1 on the grass, coming home the final 600m strongly in 35.0, showing she will be very hard to beat on Saturday at Ashburton after a series of minor placings. Tarissa Mitchell was at Riccarton to see her last start winner Wagner (Wynne) gallop with Fully Pumped (White) impressively over 800m on the grass in 48.2, the final 600m in 35.3. Night Nurse (Moore) went from the 1200m but was timed only from the 800m which took 48.9, the last 600m in 36.2.

Dressed To Kill (Callaway) galloped 800m on the grass in 49.6, the final 600m in 36.0. La Seyne (Callaway) went over 800m alone in 53.2, the final 600m in 38.7. Let It Rip Riley (White) was timed from the 600m in 35.9. Lily Grecia (Speedie) went 600m in 36.3. For the same distance on the grass Hees Our Secret (Cameron) was timed to take 36.2. What A Deezer (Fuller) and Sharp Elle (White) galloped 800m together in 49.0, also on the grass. Patsy's Lass (Moseley) and Our Prom King (Bishop) went together on the grass from the 600m in 36.9.

Other Pitman trained gallopers who ran time on the grass this morning included Saronic Miss (Morgan) and Nowhere Man (Gundowry) who went together from the 1000m in 1.04.3, the last 400m in 23.6. Anzac Coup (Morgan) and Pinup Coup (Wynne) were timed from the 800m in 53.8 but quickening towards the finish to record 23.9 for the final 400m. Coup Dreamland (Moore) and an Al Maher three-year-old colt went over 800m on the grass together in 49.9, the final 400m in 23.8. Mira (Hong) and Why Me (Shaikh) galloped together from the 1000m in 1.04.7, the final 600m in 36.9. Montoya Star (Moore) and So Brazen (Morgan) weren't at full pace from the 1000m in 1.06.3 but were more urgent at the end of their final 600m in 35.1

Shoot To Kill (Rae) and Sebring's Delight (Thistoll) did their fast work on the plough, timed from the 1000m in 1.04.6, the final 600m in 37.3. Suggestion (Rae) and Sacred Desire (Thistoll) were timed only for their final 600m which took 38.1. Kasiano (Bishop) was timed from the 800m on the plough in 52.8, the final 400m in 25.0. Jewel Of Jumeriah went nicely on the plough over 800m in 50.1, the last 600m in 36.1.

Age Of Fire (Miller) and Heart Of Courage (Newman) were not out to make time when they went together on the plough over 1000m in 1.10.9, the last 600m in 40.7. King Kane (Miller) and Tiffany's Time (Newman) did very similar work on the plough from the 1000m in 1.11.2, the last 600m in 39.2. Last start impressive two-year-old winner Avantage went out late in the session on the plough over 800m in 56.0.

Our Nina (Moseley) was timed over her last 800m on the plough in 48.9, the final 600m taking 37.5. The Kenny Rae trained Kaharau (Kwo) was timed from the 1200m on the plough in 1.24.0, the last 600m in 39.0. Others on the plough included Elusive Boxers (Carston) which three-quarter paced and was timed from the 600m in 45.0, the last 400m in 28.6. Platinum Command (Cameron) was only having a look when timed from the 800m in 57.2, the last 600m in 43.0 on the plough.

Others on the grass included a Battle Paint three-year-old in the Mike McCann stable that went over 600m in 36.8. Ferocious (Scarlet) was timed from the 1000m in 1.09.6, the last 600m in 37.5 Macario (Hong) and Qaintrelle (Shaikh) went together on the grass over 1000m in 1.06.9. Mr Typhon (Moore) was solo from the 1000m in 1.05.5, the final 600m in 36.8. Barabas (Hong) went 1000m in 1.07.4, the last 600m in 37.5. Prince Ransom (Moore) went 800m in 49.9, the last 400m in 24.1. Dynamic and Enzo's Lad (Gundowry) went over 800m in 48.9.

An unnamed Swiss Ace two-year-old filly breezed up 400m in 24.6. An unnamed three-year-old gelding by O'Reilly, also in the Pitman stable, went over 600m in 37.4, final 400m in 23.9.
