Te Akau Matamata Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Wednesday 9 January at Matamata.

As on race morning the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail out 9 metres. No rain forecast.

1.57 p.m. R4 3 Golden Age (3 g Savabeel - La Belle Epoque) - Opie Bosson; has looked good at the trials, getting home from off the pace for first and third respectively, ridden in each by Bosson. His dam, La Belle Epoque, by Irish Derby, French Derby, and Arc de Triomphe winner Montjeu (Sadler's Wells) won at 1600 metres. With the pedigree for longer distances, he also possesses natural talent to threaten on debut from barrier one in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres.

2.32 p.m. R5 3 Sizzler (2 f Sizzling - O'Raghailligh) - Opie Bosson; made good ground from off the pace for second here in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on 29 December, having debuted with a notable performance for fourth to subsequent stakes winner Bavella (Snitzel) over 880 metres in October at Ellerslie. With the addition of visor blinkers, she looks a strong chance from barrier six in the $10,000 Maiden 2YO 1100 metres.
