R4 5 Torcedor (6 g Fastnet Rock - Magnolia Lane) - Colm O'Donoghue; was a five length last start winner here on 5 May in the Longines Sagaro Stakes (Gr. 3, 3200m) when the going was soft. Currently on the fourth line of betting (15/2) in the £400,000 Ascot Gold Cup (Gr. 1, 4023m), a race he ran a highly creditable fifth in last year and regarded by Racing Post as a “very smart stayer”.

He has twice finished second to race favourite Order of St George (Galileo), 15/8, in both the Qipco Long Distance Cup (Gr. 2, 3200m) and Irish St Leger (Gr. 1, 2816m) at The Curragh.

Purchased by Te Akau principal David Ellis for 70,000 Euro (NZ$115,000) at the 2013 Deauville Yearling Sales in France, he is owned by Sir Patrick Hogan, Sir Peter Vela, Mohammed Moussa, and Laurie Laxon, and trained by Jessica Harrington in County Kildare, Ireland. Torcedor has won five of his 17 starts, five seconds and a third, and earned NZ$680,828 in prize money.
