Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 51 winners and continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - after a trio of wins last Friday and four wins last Sunday.


FRIDAY 23 JUNE

11.20 p.m. R2 7 CLUTHA LAD - App CK Ng (a3); draws five of only eight starters in the Class 4 1700m on the polytrack where he carries the lightweight just 48kgs with the apprentice claim. This tough older campaigner was back in the winner's circle last start but back up to Class 4, he may struggle in this graxde.

11.50 p.m. R4 FEROCIOUS - Shafiq Rizuan; this Sebring 2YO was purchased from the Ready to Run Sale at Karaka by Davoid Ellis and is on debut tonight in the Juvenile Stakes Open 2YO 1200m on the turf long course B here has has drawn gate five and carries 55kgs. Facing a field of 13 opponents, he is a nice 2YO well prepared - top four chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R5 8 BURGUNDY PRINCE - Alan Munro; another 2YO on debut for Mark Walker, this son of Burgundy draws six in this Restricted Maiden 2& 3YO WFA 1200m on the turf long course B. The first of two for the trainer who has already trained a Burgundy winner in Bringer of War, he carries only 49.5kgs. A horse that looks to be a better two year old looks a place chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R5 10 VENUS DE MILO - I Saifidin; the final runner of a relatively quiet night for the stable, also contest the fifth event where the Burgundy filly has drawn gate 10 and also carries a lightweight of 48kgs. In this field of ten, the second of the stable's two Burgundy youngsters hasn't two date shown a great deal and the trainer will be looking for improvement.
