Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 and 2017 Premiership winning trainer Mark Walker has recorded 45 wins, 61 second and 51 third placings since 1 January - including a Group 1 quinella in the Charity Bowl and last weekend's Group 1 Singapore Gold Cup glory - to add to the season's two Group 2 victories.  He currently lies fourth on the Trainers' Premiership.

Sunday 18 November 2018

6.40 p.m. R2 5 Analyst (3 g Darci Brahma - Pins ‘N' Needles) - CK Ng (a3); draws barrier 7 of 12 in the $85,000 Restricted Maiden 1600 metres on turf and carries 48.5kgs. He needs to improve on what he has shown so far - the first of three in the event for trainer Mark Walker.

6.40 p.m. R2 6 Clarton Star (3 g Highly Recommended - Annabel Rose) - Ismail Azhar; will jump from barrier five 5, carrying 51.5kgs. The second runner of the stable trio, he too needs to improve on what he has shown to date.

6.40 p.m. R2 13 Clarton Palace (3 g Minstrel Court - Zabba) - MM Firdaus (a1); will break from gate 10 and carries 50.5kgs. The third of the trio currently sits first on the ballot and he is another horse that needs to step up should he get a start.

7.10 p.m. R3 2 Sacred Guru (5 g Savabeel - Biriyani) - Ryan Curatolo; unfortunately cops the outside barrier (9) in the $45,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and is allocated 57kgs. He rates a top four chance despite the tricky barrier draw which will need navigation.

7.40 p.m. R4 4 Gridiron (4 g Captain Gerard - Natural Lil) - Ryan Curatolo; draws gate 7 of 11 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on turf and carries 57.5kgs. He needs to bring his track work to race day.

8.45 p.m. R6 5 Bejewelled (4 g Minstrel Court - Diamond Jules) - Razali Zawari (a1); another race with three stable reps with the first drawing handily at 3 of 12 in the $85,000 Novice 1200 metres on turf with 54kgs assigned. He trialled well and rates a place chance.

8.45 p.m. R6 6 Astra (4 g Smart Missile - Indian Dream) - Ryan Curatolo; the second of the Mark Walker trio draws one from the outside (11) and has 55kgs on his back. He rates a place chance with luck from the awkward draw.

8.45 p.m. R6 8 Wildfire (5 g Darci Brahma - Beautiful Girl) - Vlad Duric; the final for the stable in this $85,000 event jumps from gate 10 in the field of 12, with 55kgs allotted. He is having his first start and like Bejewelled (above), he is still eligible for Maidens, but the trainer has chosen to line up here with the better prize money on offer - a place chance.

9.55 p.m. R8 10 Atlantic Fox (5 g Savabeel - Kinsella) - MM Firdaus (a1); draws the ace in this 10-strong field for the $100,000 Kranji B 1400 metres on turf and carries 51kgs. He was balloted out on Friday night over a mile, which he needs, and presents as a place chance in a stronger field.

10.30 p.m. R9 8 Cloudburst (4 g Pour Moi - November Rain) - Razali Zawari (a1); draws midfield with gate 6 of 11 in the $45,000 Class 4 1600 metres on turf and carries 54.5kgs. He has improved in confidence since winning last start and rates a top four chance.
