Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has four horses racing on Sunday 9 December at Kranji - last meeting of the season, resuming 1 January.  Te Akau trainer Mark Walker ends the season in fourth place on the premiership table, and the leading Kiwi trainer.

The winner of five training premierships in New Zealand, Walker has twice been crowned Champion Trainer in Singapore (2015, 2017), while also finishing second and third since setting up Te Akau's stable in 2010 at Kranji Racecourse.

5.35 p.m. R1 11 Venus De Milo (4 m Burgundy - Breezed) - Ismail Azhar; draws barrier 1 of 12 in the $20,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 56kgs. She will be more competitive over more distance.

8.25 p.m. R6 5 Bejewelled (4 g Minstrel Court - Diamond Jules) - Hanafi Noorman (a4); draws midfield at barrier 6 of 11 in the $45,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the polytrack and carries 51.5kgs. He lines up in this race after being balloted out of the Maiden, where the trainer felt he would have been better suited.

9.00 p.m. R7 12 Augustus (4 g Snitzel - Gussy Godiva) - MM Firdaus (a1); a handy gate (3 of 12) in the $125,000 Kranji A 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 48kgs. A winner of three races up to 1900 metres in Australia, fourth last time out in the Queensland Derby (Gr. 1, 2200m), he is making his Singaporean debut. He meets a tough field, but has a light weight, trialled well, and a top five performance would be pleasing.

10.20 p.m. R9 3 Distinctive Darci (5 g Darci Brahma - Distinctive Lass) - Vlad Duric; will spring from gate 5 of 12 in the $175,000 Colonial Chief Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m) on the polytrack and carries 58kgs. A bit of an 'experiment' racing over a mile, but he will be ridden patiently and he has been carrying heavy weights. A win would make him Polytrack Horse of the Year.
