4.33 p.m. R7 1 Age of Fire (3 c Fastnet Rock - Dragon's Tail) - Opie Bosson; staged an herculean effort to steal victory in the 3YO 1400 metres on Boxing Day at Ellerslie, after producing a mighty run for second to stable-mate Embellish (Savabeel) in the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m). Ideally drawn (2) in the $225,000 Levin Classic (Gr. 1, 1600m), he gets another genuine shot at group one spoils and strongly favoured. Fixed odds: $2.80 & $1.30.

5.08 p.m. R8 12 Grazia (5 m Savabeel - Trocair) - Mark Du Plessis; resumed off 48 days with a notable effort for sixth in the Rating 85 1600 metres on 29 December at Ellerslie, running home (35.6) faster than the winner. An impressive stakes winner of the Spring Classic (Listed, 2000m) in October at Riccarton, she has a solid record over a mile, including a win in January last year. Dropping in weight from 58.5kgs to 53.5kgs, with blinkers on, she just requires luck from barrier 13 to measure up in the $70,000 Anniversary Handicap (Gr. 3, 1600m). Fixed odds: $15.00 & $4.20.
