Te Akau TV - Weekend Preview

Date: 26 Apr 2024

It’s the final episode for the season as the Te Akau TV team takes a winter break and readies itself for the new season and Spring racing in August!

And here we have it! As we bid adieu to what has been an exhilarating journey of Te Akau TV this season we can't help but reflect on the remarkable moments we've shared together!

Wow what a season it has been!

This season has been nothing short of extraordinary, filled with success and memorable victories. We're proud to announce that we've clinched an impressive 29 Group/Listed races so far - including 9 Group 1 races - our stables are flying on both sides of the Tasman, making a big impact and most importantly, our stables have now won over $15 million in prize money for our owners.

This week we celebrated another great week of wins, culminating in a Timaru Treble on Wednesday. Beau Brummell, French Rose and Our Milly Bee showcased their prowess on the track at the Phar Lap raceway! Additionally, triumphs Lightning Dream and Merlotti delivered a stable quinella at Matamata, while Sailing Away at Riccarton added to our string of past week's successes!

As we gear up for the weekend ahead, anticipation runs high with Group racing taking centre stage once again. Our team is primed for battle, starting at Te Rapa where Egyptian Queen sets her sights on the Group 3 Inglis Sales Cambridge Breeders' Stakes.

Then our ambitions extend to Adelaide, a venue we haven't attacked for many a year but we will be out in force there on Saturday with five stable runners contesting five separate Group races! We are excited to have runners in the two headline acts - Qali Al Farrasha in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks and Skew Wiff in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes - both this year carrying a purse of A$1 million for the first time, the stakes having doubled for this year's editions.

Additionally, we have runners poised to pounce at Cranbourne (Friday night), Wanganui (Saturday) and Wingatui (Sunday) in New Zealand, and Singapore racing beams in on Saturday too.

Before we sign off and hibernate (it's an amazing physiological feat necessary for survival in some species!), we'd like to extend our thanks to you for your unwavering support throughout the season.

Your loyalty and passion as Te Akau owners and supporters is instrumental in our success, and we look forward to continuing this journey together in the seasons to come!
