Te Akau track work highlights - Saturday 17 February -

Course proper (slow):

Karaka Million (Listed, 1200m) winner Avantage (Newman) worked to time at three-quarter pace over 1000m in 1:16, last 600m in 44. She is gearing up for the Sistema Stakes (Gr. 1, 1200m) on 10 March at Ellerslie.

Group One winner Age of Fire (Lammas) and Sword of Osman (Burdan) went an easy 1000m in 1:08, last 600m in 39.4. Age of Fire is set to race at Matamata next weekend while impressive debut winner Sword of Osman contests the $70,000 Matamata Slipper (Gr. 3, 1200m) on Saturday at Matamata.

Also for the Matamata Slipper, Handsome Rebel (Alam) worked with The Real Beel (Lammas), contesting the $100,000 Matamata Breeders' Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m). They ran an easy 1000m in 1:06, last 600m in 39.7.

Another pair for the local meeting, Our Abbadean (Lammas) and Scrutinize (Alam) worked an easy 1200 metres in 1:25, last 600m in 40.1.

Working solo, Splurge (Lammas) worked easily over 1200m in 1:23, last 600m in 39, in preparation for the $200,000 Haunui Farm WFA Classic (Gr. 1, 1600m) next Saturday at Hastings.

 

Sand track:

Preparing to debut next Thursday at Wairoa, Qian Gua (Lammas) worked in company over 1000 metres in 1:04, last 600m in 36.

Imperium (Alam) and Wide Awake (Lammas) ran an easy 1200m in 1:19, last 600m in 38.9. They are scheduled to race next Saturday, at Matamata, and Hastings, respectively.

Unfazed (Newman) and Zavistic (Burdan) went 1000m in 1:05, last 600m in 37.4. Last start winner Zavistic is entered for the Rating 70 1200 metres on Wednesday at Avondale, and Unfazed is eyeing the Rating 65 1400 metres next Thursday at Wairoa.
