Te Akau New Zealand – Marketing/Social Media Manager

Julia-Rose Ellis (Hayes) has been working for Te Akau for many years but that was not her first brush with tangerine being Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM and David Ellis CNZM’s youngest daughter.

An obvious family connection to the industry Julia-Rose has been lucky to experience some trackside excitement throughout the years from the sale to the saddle – her recent ownership highlights have included involvement with On The Bubbles and Wild Night. Starting her racing career in her 20’s, Julia-Rose worked at the Auckland Racing Club in the Marketing team – a role which changed her career direction and landed her where she is today.  

Julia-Rose was running the social media channels before she started working at Ellerslie which lead her to thinking about a role at Te Akau as there was an opportunity to grow the digital side of the company. She joined the team as the Marketing Manager to have the opportunity to contribute to that area of the business, specifically using emerging digital channels to generate brand awareness, educate mainstream New Zealand on our industry and drive new ownership opportunities.

Julia-Rose loves producing video content at all of the sales, during the year for social media and digital presence alongside social media campaigns to build the tangerine brand. One of her highlights was redesigning the website in 2017 with a new one in the pipeline. She has a passion for following the horses from purchase through to their racing careers and gets a thrill from every win as she knows how much it means to the entire team. 

Julia-Rose also works alongside our Singapore stable overseeing Singapore owner communications.

Julia-Rose, on behalf of Te Akau, lead the team to win the NZTR Award for Contribution to Media, Digital & Content in 2020. 

Julia-Rose resides in Auckland with her husband Hamish Hayes, daughter Lucia-Rose and golden retriever Beauden.
