“Barbarian” (Redoute’s Choice/Fume Blanc) was purchased by Michael Wallace Bloodstock for the China Horse Club and Newgate Farm as a stallion prospect in 2018 for A$700,000 and what a pedigree!
He 2YO by the Champion King of Sires, Redoute’s Choice out of a winning Encosta de Lago mare Fume Blanc. He hails from a huge black type family – the likes of Royal Academy, Storm Cat, Brando – and the list goes on and on. Group 1 winners in France, USA, UK, Japan – I have attached his pedigree for you.
Barbarian is an exciting prospect for the Singapore 2YO Series – he was an expensive yearling bought by a syndicate only interested in creating a stallion prospect with him and not interested in racing a gelding.
He’s a well educated young horse who ran third in a strong Randwick trial in Sydney at the end of September but he neds to be gelded which we are doing immediately before his flight to Singapore and Mark Walker’s aim is to have him in Singapore ready for the first two year old race of the new season towards the end of March.
Because Barbarian was a Magic Millions’ yearling, he is eligible for the A$30,000 two year old bonus on every two year old race in Singapore. Each two year old race is worth $90,000 so with the bonus, he will be racing for an incredible stake of $120,000 each race.
Mark added: “he’s certainly an exciting prospect, plus he is closely related in pedigree to “Carlton Super” who was one of the very best race horses in Singapore – so we already know that it’s a pedigree that races well in this part of the world.”
A 20% share is $16,000, a 10% share is $8,000 and a 5% share just $4,000.
