Lot 355 b f I Am Invincible – Mabasam (Stratum) $410,000 (draft: Windsor Park)
Boasting a recent pedigree update, her half-brother Jasd (Sepoy) remained unbeaten in two starts following his win on Wellington Cup Day at Trentham.
Progeny by her sire, I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), have been incredibly well sought after.
At the recently completed Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, I Am Invincible had a yearling top the sale at $2 million, also selling for $1.9m and $1.45m and he finished as leading stallion with 37 sold at an average of $478,000.
“She’s an absolutely gorgeous filly,” said David Ellis. “I first saw her at Windsor Park in December and the moment she came out I just fell in love with her.”
As a two-year-old, Ellis thought the filly could be set for a race like the Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) and really train on at three towards the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m).
“We have a couple in the stable by I Am Invincible and he is obviously a really good sire, one that has developed his reputation through performers on the track, which is a great sign.
“His sire, Invincible Spirit, is one of the leading stallions in Europe, and a sire of sires.
“The dam of this filly was very consistent and won two races, and of course, importantly, she is out of a Zabeel mare and you just can’t beat them.”
Regarding the price, Ellis said: “I thought she may have made a touch more. She’s come from a very good farm, Windsor Park Stud. Every year they present good horses for sale and she was certainly one of my favourite fillies in the catalogue.”
The filly has terrific stallion influences in the pedigree cross: Canny Lad, Danzig, and Sir Ivor.
