“He’s a beautifully balanced colt and his dam sire Exceed and Excel has been a fantastic speed influence in Australia,” said David Ellis.
“The colt walked very well, an athletic two-year-old type, and one we could see targeting two-year-old races like the Karaka Million and Diamond Stakes.”
From the first crop of Australian Horse of the Year, five-time group one winner, Dissident (Sebring). Trained by Peter Moody, he was known for his exceptionally tough qualities when winning from 1000 metres to 1600 metres.
He is the first foal of Are There Any, a mare that won six races from 1300m to 2050m in Melbourne. She is by the top-class sire Exceed and Excel, whose Te Akau trained two-year-old colt Al Hasa did himself proud when charging home for second to stable-mate Avantage (Fastnet Rock) in the Karaka Million on 27 January at Ellerslie.
By Danehill, the most successful sire of all time, Exceed and Excel has left over 1000 winners, 142 stakes winners, and the mating has a lovely Danehill cross in his pedigree.
Exceed and Excel won twice as a two-year-old, in a career of seven wins from eleven starts and $1.3m in prize money.
In turn, his grand-dam, Honest Politician (Distorted Humor), was also a very tough racehorse that won six races in Australia.
