Lot 576 ch f Iffraaj – She’s Remarkable $110,000 (draft: Haunui Farm)

By Iffraaj (Zafonic), the sire of Te Akau trained triple group one winner Gingernuts, from the family of Champion Three-Year-Old Xtravagant (Pentire). Trained by Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards to win six of his 12 starts, he became the fifth of six 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) winners for Te Akau.

Xtravagant is a brother to He’s Remarkable, a $360,000 yearling purchase at Karaka. He stamped his ability from the outset with an impressive debut win and went on to win six races including the Newmarket Handicap (Gr. 3, 1400m) in Sydney. Both are now stallions at stud.

“We have had great success with this family and she really took my eye during our farm inspections at Haunui Farm,” said David Ellis.

“She has plenty of class and quality about her and I think she is the type to be winning races an autumn two-year-old. Being from this family, she will have the ability to train on to be a 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) filly.

From a young Pentire (Be My Guest) mare, her second dam is Arletty (Centaine). Arletty won eight of 29 starts, including the Wilkinson Mile (Gr. 3, 1600m) and Ra Ora Stakes (Gr. 3, 2000m) at Ellerslie, the Villiers Stakes (Gr. 2, 1600m) at Randwick, and the Queen of the Turf (Gr. 2, 1500m) at Rosehill.

Arletty became a top-class broodmare, leaving nine individual winners of 34 races.

The filly has a terrific pedigree cross of breed shaping sire Northern Dancer.
