Lot 68 b c Reset – Biddable (Exceed and Excel) $90,000 (draft: Lyndhurst Farm)
By the son of Zabeel (Sir Tristram) stallion Reset, he is the first foal of dual winner Biddable (Exceed and Excel), an upstanding and talented race mare that impressed winning over 1200m and 1400m.
“He’s a lovely horse that really impressed me when we inspected him at Lyndhurst Farm, and he has the influence of that great sire Sir Tristram on both sides of his pedigree,” said David Ellis.
The dam side of this colt is one of the best available, with class and race performance in abundance. Uberalles (Giant’s Causeway), the second dam, carried the looks and class of his dam, Melbourne Cup winner of $6 million Ethereal (Rhythm), and in turn Hong Kong Cup winner Romanee Conti (Sir Tristram) – quality through and through.
“It’s a family we know and we trained Uberalles to finish third in the New Zealand Derby, ridden by Noel Harris,” Ellis said.
“There is plenty of quality about this colt and he looks the type to come a bit sooner, and I love buying first and early foals from these talented young mares.”
Biddable is by the top-class sire Exceed and Excel, whose Te Akau trained two-year-old colt Al Hasa did himself proud when charging home for second to stable-mate Avantage (Fastnet Rock) in the Karaka Million on 27 January at Ellerslie.
By Danehill, the most successful sire of all time, Exceed and Excel has left over 1000 winners, including 142 stakes winners.
Exceed and Excel won twice as a two-year-old, in a career of seven wins from eleven starts and $1.3m in prize money.
