Lot 686 gr f Sacred Falls – Vickezzchardonnay (Don Eduardo) $160,000 (draft: Milan Park)
A first crop yearling by Champion Three-Year-Old (up to 1600m) and four-time group one winner Sacred Falls (O’Reilly), a $160,000 purchase when selling in 2011 at Karaka, he finished up earning $5.1 million.
Her dam, Vickezzchardonnay, by the highest priced yearling to ever sell at Karaka, Don Eduardo ($3.6 million), was an impressive five time winner from 1600m to 2100m.
“She is a beautiful filly and has lovely big ears, which I like,” said David Ellis.
“Vickezzchardonnay was very good race mare, group three winner of the Taranaki Cup, and already doing a great job as a broodmare, having left a stakes winner (Splendido) by O’Reilly over 2100 metres.
“I have been very impressed with the stock of Sacred Falls and I think he looks to be a really exciting prospect for the New Zealand breeding industry.
“This filly has the pedigree and looks to become a really good staying, Oaks, type. She has a lot of quality about her, moves beautifully, very correct, and she was a great buy.”
