Lot 13 2 c Star Witness – Fandom (Rock of Gibraltar) $60,000 (draft: Lyndhurst Farm)
He breezed up in 10.54 (amongst the top 10% of times), showing speed, good balance, and a naturalness in his action. His sire was a Group One winning sprinter in Australia, and the dam won over 1000m and 1200m in Australia.
“He’s a very correct, straightforward type of colt, that moves well and he’s from a top draft,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis.
“Being from the right draft and thoroughly prepared is very important at the Ready to Run Sale and we’ve had a lot of success previously buying from Lyndhurst, having bought the Group One winner Hall of Fame and horse of the moment Te Akau Shark.
“He was particularly good buying, considering he was bought for the same amount as a yearling at the Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney.”
An athletic colt from a good stakes winning family, his sire Star Witness was a dominant winner of the Coomore Stud Stakes (Gr. 1, 1200m) down the straight at Flemington, and proves to be an up and coming sprint sire in Australia.
