After his debut in December 2023 over 1300m, Ascend The Throne's rider noted that the 3YO gelding would appreciate a step up in distance. Stepping up to 1600m later that month, the son of Champion Sire Savabeel finished a solid fifth.
It would be over 2000m that he would shine - his first win coming over that distance on 10 January 2024, was closely followed on 31 January with an inspired and gutsy effort to claim the $160,000 Group 2 Legacy Lodge Waikato Guineas 3YO SW 2000m in the hands of Te Akau stable rider Opie Bosson ONZM.
Purchased by David Ellis CNZM from the Karaka Yearling Sale Book 1, Ascend The Throne is raced by the Te Akau 2022 Stallion Breeding Syndicate (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM) - he has raced four times for two wins, earning $107,375 to date.
