SANS DOUTE

Showy chestnut filly Sans Doute debuted for an eye-catching second at Taupo in August 2022. Her owners would not have to wait long until she landed firmly in the winner's circle.

The daughter of Not A Single Doubt scored her maiden win in December 2022 at Rotorua in a SW 1215m event when ridden by two-time New Zealand Champion Jockey Michael McNab.  It was a flash of things to come!

At just her second start in September 2022, Sans Doute battled Heavy10 track conditions for a spirited runner up placings in the $100,000 Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings over 1200m with Te Akau stable jockey Opie Bosson ONZM aboard.

Saluting the judge again at Te Rapa in February 2023, it was a top effort from a wide barrier in a MAAT 1200m when ridden again by Bosson.  The third win of her career followed a month later in March 2023 at Trentham in a 3YTO SW+P 1200m.

After a solid second placing in April 2023 at Awapuni, again from a wide gate and again in a 3YO SW+P, it was clear to our training team she was bat her best over the 1000-1100m distance - and not too many of those events are programmed in New Zealand.

Thus the decision was taken to transfer the rising 4YO to Te Akau's new Cranbourne stable in Victoria - in what turned out to be a fortuitous move indeed! 

On her Australian debut at Moonee Valley in October 2023, Sans Doute gave an indication of what would lie ahead. Carrying 61kg, with Bosson aboard, she was narrowly beaten less than half a length in a A$60,000 BM 70 1000m.

Her love affair with the Flemington was about to commence, with her winning four in a row up the famous Flemington straight which really can be a 'horses for courses' track!

The first of her "Fabulous Flemington Four" victories came in December 2023 with a three length whitewash of her opposition in a A$50,000 BM 70 1000m from barrier eight in the hands of apprentice Celine Gaudray. 

She was at it again a month later in January 2024, with a narrow win in a A$130,000 BM 78 1100m again with Gaudray in the saddle.  That was repeated yet another month later in early March 2024 as she claimed a A$150,000 Mares' Handicap 1100m.

It was valuable black type next on the agenda and on 30 March it was "mission accomplished" as Sans Doute rattled home courtesy of a genius Mick Dee ride for victory in the A$175,000 ATA/Bob Hoysted Hcp 1000m.

Sans Doute was purchased by David Ellis CNZM at the Inglis Easter sale for A$300,000. Owned by the Te Akau In No Doubt Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), she has raced 15 times, recording seven wins and five minor placings, winning A$391,757 (approx. NZ$427,712) to date.
