ENTRIVIERE

A late bloomer, this daughter of Tavistock began her racing career as a four year old in the 2020/21 season and what a season it was for her.

She won on debut in September 2020 with a flash of brilliance and a hint of more to come.  This was followed by a second win at her second start in October 2020 and only bad luck meant she didn't record three wins in a row in November 2020.

The regard in which she is held was further confirmed on Boxing Day 2020 when Entriviere cruised home at Ellerslie as a precursor of what was yet to come.

Back to Ellerslie on one of the biggest stages of the year - Karaka Million Twilight - connections had to wait for a scratching for her to make the field for the $70,000 Brighthill Farm Concorde Handicap over 1200m. That scratching duly arrived and so did she!  Ridden by Danielle Johnson, the 4YO was breathtaking claiming the stakes' race at just her fifth start.

With Ellerslie back on the agenda for start number six, she returned to show her style on Derby Day in March 2021 as one of five (three at stakes' level) winners for Te Akau trainer Jamie Richards on the day.  She swept home for Danielle Johnson to seize a clear-cut victory in the $100,000 Group 3 Haunui Farm King's Plate Open SW+P 1200m - securing an Australian campaign.

Heading to Sydney in April 2021. Entriviere was superb when beaten a whisker in the A$300,000 Group 2 Sapphire Stakes over 1200m at Royal Randwick.  Why superb when beaten?  She jumped from gate 14 of 14 and rider James McDonald was obliged to sit three wide for much of the journey - it was an impressive effort.

Back to New Zealand to spell, after trialling on home soil Entriviere was back to Sydney to take care of 'unfinished business'.  A small hoof abscess saw her scratched from her initial Sydney target but perhaps that was a blessing in disguise - in the Group 3 Toy Show, she had drawn 17 of 17 and would have carried the top weight.

Instead, the now 5YO Entriviere headed to the Rosehill meeting staged at Kembla Grange on 11 September 2021 where under the set weights and penalties conditions (and a decent draw), she looked well positioned.  The market certainly thought so, and she was installed the hot favourite for the A$200,000 Coolmore Sheraco Stakes over 1200m for 3YO+ fillies and mares.  Again in the hands of James McDonald, there was no bad luck in the equation and she glided home to win stylishly.

Two weeks later on 25 September 2021, jumping from barrier nine and again piloted by McDonald, Entriviere was only beaten into third by a neck/long neck in the A$400,000 group 2 Golden Pendant over 1400m.

The wide draw plague continued in her next assignment, the inaugural A$2 million The Invitation. Again jumping from gate nine, with Tommy Berry aboard, little went her way as she over-raced and was sent forward, not her usual racing style.  She did well to rally and finish a close up fourth.

Home for a break and on New Year's Day 2022 at Ellerslie, Entriviere was sent in to the $240,000 Group 1 System Railway Open SW+P 1400m.  In the hands of Opie Bosson she was five wide at the corner, kicked and was simply too good - defeating Levante by 1.5 lengths.  Thus she on the very first Group 1 race in the world for 2022!

After striking bad luck in her $250,000 Group 1 Telegraph Quest in January 2022 when finishing fifth, Entriviere was gallant in defeat when runner up in the $220,000 Group 1 BCD Waikato Sprint over 1400m at Te Rapa on 12 February 2022 in the hands of Te Akau stable jockey Opie Bosson.  Held up at a vital stage, she rallied well to finish close up to her nemesis Levante.

Entriviere is trained by Jamie Richards, and was purchased privately by David Ellis CNZM.  Raced by the Te Akau Buckle Up Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM) she has raced 13 times for seven wins and six placings - with stakes' earnings of $631,790.
