MISS AOTEAROA
Bred and raced by Tony Rider, and entrusted to Te Akau, Miss Aotearoa showed her talent very early to trainer Jamie Richards.
Finishing a close up 5th on debut behind a stablemate quinella of Need I Say More (two time Group 3 winner) and exciting Savabeel filly Cornflower Blue, her 2YO campaign was interrupted by the COVID-19 lockdown.
As a strengthened three year old, Miss Aotearoa won her second start at Taupo in August 2020. Under a month later, she announced 'her arrival' with a scintillating win in the $70,000 Hawkes' Bay Breeders' Gold Trail Stakes for three year old fillies in the hands of Danielle Johnson, earning valuable early points for the NZB Filly of the Year Series. A race won two years prior by Te Akau glamour mare Avantage.
Te Akau has trained five winners of this prestigious series - Princess Coup, Shikoba, King's Rose, Costa Viva and Insouciant. No other stable has won more that two titles.
Miss Aotearoa has raced three times for two wins and $52,050 in prize money.
