War Affair

Raced by the Warplan Stable, War Affair was Mark Walker's his first Group 2 winner in Singapore.  A gelding by O'Reilly from Kristique, he began his career in superb fashion when winning his second start, a leg of the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe 2YO Championship.  At his third start in May 2013 he was a runaway winner of the prestigious S$325,000 Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe Final in the hands of Champion Singapore jockey Joao Moreira.  His fourth start in July 2013 saw him claim the S$200,000 Group 3 Juvenile Challenge Stakes 1200m again with Joao Moreira aboard - and be declared Singapore's best 2YO.

In September 2013 War Affair won his first 3YO start, the S$100,000 1st Leg 3YO Championship Series. He claimed the S$100,000 second leg of this prestigious series in late September putting him on track to be Singapore's stand-out 3YO. He confirmed this status when putting the 3rd leg beyond doubt with a resounding win in the $150,000 Group 3 Magic Millions More Magic 3YO Championship 1600m in October 2013. On all occasions he was ridden by Joao Moreira.

In 2014 War Affair continued his dominance as Singapore's best 3YO winning the S$100,000 Group 3 Singapore 3YO Sprint over 1200m in March, the S$350,000 Group 2 Singapore 3YO Classic over 1400m in April and the S$500,000 Group 1 Singapore Guineas over 1600m in May - winning the latter by four lengths and smashing the track record.

In September 2014 he returned to finish second in the S$200,000 Group 2 Committee's Prize over 1600m before claiming the first leg of the Triple Crown in early October - the $500,000 Group 1 WFA Kranji Mile.  War Affair then stepped out later in October 2014 to also win the second leg of the Triple Crown by five lengths - the S$500,000 Group 1 Raffle's Cup 1800m.

The Group 1 winning performances continued in April 2015 with War Affair claiming the Group 1 Lion City Cup, then in May the Group 2 Stewards' Cup followed in June by the Group 1 Patron's Bowl.

He has also finished runner up twice at Group 1 level and once at Group 3 level.

Purchased by David Ellis for $70,000 from the draft of Trelawney Stud at the Karaka Premier Sale - War Affair has now won 14 races for stakes of S$2,743,526.
