An exciting son of Dundeel, Yourdeel was entrusted to Te Akau by Chris Rutten and is raced by him, together with John Norwood and Ron Preston.
A winner on debut at Te Rapa in December 2018 by 5.25 lengths, he then ran second to subsequent Karaka 2YO Million winner and stablemate Probabeel in mid January 2018.
After dead-heating for third in the $1 million Karaka Million at his next start on 26 January 2019, he then turned in a massive performance to win the $70,000 Group 2 Matamata Slipper on 23 February 2019 by a stunning six lengths with Matthew Cameron again aboard.
On Auckland Cup Day on 9 March 2019 at Ellerslie, in the hands of Te Akau stable rider Opie Bosson, he grappled with a Heavy10 track and still came out on top in the $200,000 Group 1 Sistema Stakes over 1200m in a gritty and determined showing. This is a race that Te Akau has won previously with Maroofity, Warhorse, Heroic Valour and last year Sword of Osman.
In March 2019, Yourdeel became the first horse in eight years to make it back to back group 1 doubles – when winning the $225,000 Group 1 Courtesy Ford Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes over 1400m. It was a scintillating performance as, in the hands of Opie Bosson, he flew from the rear to claim line-hours in a sweeping victory.
There are only two Group 1 races for two year olds in New Zealand each year – and he won them both!
Yourdeel has raced six times for four wins and two placings, for prize money of $375,600.
