Zarius

in 2005/2006 Zarius was being heralded as one of the new stars of New Zealand staying ranks. Raced by his breeder Bob Emery and trained by Mark Walker, he confirmed his outstanding potential with a win in the Group 2 City Of Auckland Cup (2400m) at Ellerslie on New Year's Day 2006 when he produced a stunning last-to-first performance. On target for the Kelt Capital Stakes and a tilt at the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups for 2006, Zarius tragically bowed a tendon and has been retired.
