102 - Not Out
23 June, 2016
The headline may sound something like a cricket score - in cricket is would mean that a century has been achieved and the runs continue - well its the same for Team Te Akau - we are equally as proud of our Matamata team for reaching the magical 102 mark (not out) for wins in this season. We suspect that there might be more to come - notwithstanding it is winter which is always a quieter time for us.
Not only is Te Akau in New Zealand on top of the Trainers' Premiership by wins, with a lead of nine, we also have won more Group and Listed races in new Zealand than any other stable (10) - four of them at Group 1 level.
Only two stables have earned more than $2 million in prize money and Te Akau is one of those - with a superb strike rate too. We are just so delighted for our family of loyal owners!

Winter, as we say, is a fairly quiet time of the year for the team - but it is an important time for planning for the new season while many of our horses are either spelling or just heading back in from their good breaks. Top gallopers such as Group 1 winners Xtravagant #sexonhooves (below) and Heroic Valour (above) are enjoying being back in the stable as we prepare them for their important season ahead.

Our Te Akau Stud team also plays a very important part - our yearlings have almost now all been broken in and our spelling horses are well nurtured by Jason, Sinead, Toni, Luke and our whole team at the farm. It really is a total team effort and everyone is chuffed and proud of the season's success - they have all played such an important part in.
Here are the latest Trainers' Premiership standings as of this morning:
Premierships are based on performances during each racing season (August 1st - July 31st). The jockey and trainer with the most wins at the end of the season are the Premiership winners. These statistics are updated daily.
