5 Win Saturday - Insatiable Unstoppable
Date: 3 Sep 2023
Given a perfect trip by Opie Bosson, Insatiable (4 g All Too Hard – All Day Baby, by More Than Ready) resumed with victory in the $40,000 Rating 65 1000 metres on Saturday at Riccarton.
The win provided a race-to-race double for sire All Too Hard (Casino Prince), following the fresh-up win by stable-mate Viva Vienna in the 3YO 1000 metres.
Insatiable, who won his Maiden over 1200 metres and competed in good fields last season, had finished off nicely for close fourth in a trial on 1 August at Te Rapa, was aided by a handy draw (2) and rated a top three chance.
Put into the box seat by Bosson, across the junction onto the course proper, Insatiable had the leader in his sights at the 200m and won comfortably after arresting the lead.
“It was good to see him win first-up and I think there’s improvement still to come,” said co-trainer Mark Walker.
“He’s a big gross sort of horse and it was a lovely ride of Opie’s to balance him up and get the job done pretty well.
“He’s been quite a slow maturing type, but has plenty of ability and I think the trip away to campaign in the South Island will do him the world of good.
“It will wake him up mentally. Physically, he’s been big and overgrown but there’s certainly more to come as he continues to strengthen and develop.”
Scoring by a long neck in the race sponsored by Christchurch Casino South Island Racing Awards 15 September, Insatiable ran 1000 metres in 58.5 on footing upgraded to Soft5 and justified his $2.00 & $1.30 favouritism.
Insatiable was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $190,000 at the 2021 Karaka Book 1 Sale, from the draft of Windsor Park Stud, and owned by Te Akau All Too Much Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM).
“He was a really nice physical specimen when we bought him as a yearling, had a few maturity issues as he grew, but getting there now and the trip away should be really good for him,” Ellis said.
“Congratulations to the owners, including All Black Anton Lienert-Brown and I’m sure that through him there are a lot of people celebrating the win.”
The sire of Insatiable, All Too Hard (Casino Prince), is a half-brother to the unbeaten champion Black Caviar (Bel Esprit), who won all 25 starts, including 15 Group One wins, while also the sire of Queensland Horse of the Year Alligator Blood, Champion Sprinter in Hong Kong Wellington, and multiple Group One winners Behemoth and Forbidden Love.
All Too Hard has sired 57 stakes' winners, among 1385 wins in total.
Dam All Day Baby is by international sire More Than Ready (Southern Halo). Incredibly, world renowned dam sire More Than Ready (Southern Halo) has sired over 4,000 winners including 258 stakes winners and 50 Group One winners, and already proving an exceptional Australian broodmare sire.
More Than Ready has been a Champion Sire in both hemispheres, proved to an outstanding sire of sires, and going from strength-to-strength as a broodmare sire.
Insatiable was strapped by Ashley Handley.
