8 Win Saturday - A Singapore Double

Te Akau Singapore trainer Donna Logan claimed her third double this year, winning with Our Secret Weapon (Outreach) and Luxury Brand (Charm Spirit) on Saturday at Kranji Racecourse.

A strong last start course/distance winner in the same grade, Our Secret Weapon (5 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond, by Elvstroem) again had Te Akau apprentice Fadzli Yusoff (a2) aboard and although posted wide throughout from barrier 11 was still able to knuckle down for success.

Stable-mate Super Posh (Super Easy), ridden by Te Akau apprentice Jamil Sarwi (a4) also did a top job closing strongly for third.

Purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $60,000 at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale, specifically to race in Singapore, Our Secret Weapon emulated his time (59.1) when winning on 4 February, by running 59.3 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly-track, scoring by one and a quarter lengths and paid $4.80 & $2.00 on the NZ TAB tote.

His four wins have helped attribute to nearly $113,568 in prize money, with the prospect of more still to come.

“He was very good again, Our Secret Weapon, showing what great form he's in to keep finding off a tough trip,” Logan said.

“He goes really good fresh, so we've spaced his races and he looks really good in the coat now.”

Recording his third win from just seven starts, Luxury Brand (3 g Charm Spirit - Miss Gucci, by Makfi) also had Yusoff abord when winning the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres.

Logan had said prior to the race that Luxury Brand liked turf, trialled well, looked fit and rated a top three chance.

After racing between runners in midfield, Luxury Brand angled clear on straightening and kept finding the line in a close finish.

He did well breaking 1:10, running 1:09.7, for 1200 metres on footing rated Good and returned $5.00 & $2.00 on the NZ TAB tote.

“He's always shown ability, even before he had a start,” said Logan, for the horse in training for Kylie Bax.

“I trained horses for Kylie in New Zealand - Danzdanzdance was our best - and we've always had a good association.”

The most recent offering out the mare, Miss Gucci, a filly by U S Navy Flag (War Front), was (Lot 420) passed in for $30,000 at the Karaka Book 1 Sale in January.  A good family, going back to renowned galloper Silky Red Boxer (Casual Lies), grand-dam Katie O'Neil is by Champion Sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram).
