A Day to Celebrate
1 August, 2026
Today, the calendar quietly turns a page - however a very significant one.
Across New Zealand and Australia, indeed every Thoroughbred in the Southern Hemisphere celebrates another birthday. No cakes. No candles. Just another sunrise over paddocks and stables, and another season waiting to begin.
The young weanlings of yesterday have become yearlings, full of promise and possibility. Our yearlings proudly become two-year-olds, ready to continue the education that will lead them onto the racecourse. Two-year-olds become three-year-olds, stepping into the season where dreams of age-group success begin to take shape. Fillies become mares, colts become horses/entires, and the gelding warriors continue to remind us that heart can never be measured by age.
Every one of them is different. Every one of them matters.
Some will become champions. Some will carry silks to Group One glory. Others will quietly enrich our lives in ways no statistics can ever measure. They teach us patience, resilience, humility and hope. They introduce strangers who become lifelong friends and create memories that stay with us forever.
To our owners, thank you for allowing us the privilege of caring for these magnificent horses. We know they are more than racehorses. They are individuals, each with their own personality, their own story and their own future. We promise never to lose sight of the responsibility you place in our hands. Their welfare, their happiness and their wellbeing will always come first.
So today we celebrate every horse in our care. The young, the old, the champions, the dreamers, and those whose greatest victories are still ahead of them.
Happy Birthday.
May this new season bring good health, safe travels, lasting friendships and dreams that are even bigger than the ones we dared to imagine today.
