Abidewithme Chases Group 1 Spoils

The Informant reports:

A Group One win is one of the only things missing from Abidewithme's CV, and the daughter of Redoute's Choice will try to change that when she lines up in Saturday's Rydges Wellington Captain Cook Stakes at Trentham.

Abidewithme is in-foal to Tavistock and will have only three or four more chances at the elite level. Saturday's 1600-metre weight-for-age feature is the first of those.

Trained by Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards for owner-breeders Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, Abidewithme has won nine of her 33 starts and more than $440,000 in stakes. She has won two Group Two events and two Listed races, and she has picked up two Group One placings.

Abidewithme's last-start performance was one of her very best, charging home from the back to win a slowly run Gr. 2 Tauranga Stakes on November 12.

“She's really thrived since Tauranga,” Autridge said. “She's one happy horse at the moment. We're definitely on track for the Captain Cook on Saturday and hoping she can pick up a Group One win.”

Abidewithme has previously been successful over this course and distance, winning the Listed Anniversary Handicap in fast time in January 2014.
