All Decked Out Returns
24 March, 2014
Injury has robbed All Decked Out of most of his classic season but his connections are still hopeful he can make a further impact as a late three-year-old.
Expectations were high for the well-bred colt when he returned in the spring after winning his only juvenile start and his campaign began well with a third placing behind El Roca in the Listed Challenge Stakes.
All Decked Out then ran a close second to Sir Andrew in the Gr. 2 Hawke's Bay Guineas before he felt the hard ground when sixth in the Listed Holloway Stakes at Riccarton.
The Oaks' Stud-bred and raced colt was withdrawn from the Gr. 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas and spelled. He was unplaced when he resumed in the Gr. 2 Great Northern Guineas on Boxing Day and was turned out again.
“He had issues with his back and he had six weeks out and he's been back in work a while now and will trial next month,†racing manager Rick Williams said.
“We'll work out then whether we take him to Brisbane and ideally he will have a run in New Zealand first. It's unfortunate he's missed most of the season and Jason (Bridgman) and I know he's a Group One horse if we can get him healthy again.â€
A son of Darci Brahma, All Decked Out is from the Gr. 3 Highview Stakes winner Diamond Deck, a three-quarter sister to the former Australian Horse of the Year Lonhro.
