Australasian Double - Signoretti Salutes
23 November, 2025
Runner-up in three of five starts, Signoretti (3 g Hello Youmzain – I Am Grande, by I Am Invincible) justified favouritism with a strong win in the A$32,000 Maiden 1450 metres on Saturday at Tatura (Victoria).
Having finished second in the Maiden 1462 metres on 31 October at Kilmore, after travelling comfortably outside the leader before gaining an advantage in the straight, Signoretti brought the right form to rate a top three chance from barrier five, and adopted similar tactics to good effect.
Ridden by Liam Riordan, Signoretti went forward into second, worked up to take advantage entering the home straight and drew out to win comfortably by a neat length.
In the race sponsored by Liam Howley Racing Family and Friends, Signoretti ran 1450 metres in 1:28.4 on Good4 footing and paid $1.80 fixed odds on the NZ TAB.
Owned by Sir Brendan & Jo, Lady Lindsay (Cambridge Stud), Signoretti was purchased by them for A$100,000 at the 2024 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, from the draft of Westbury Stud.
Signoretti is by Cambridge Stud shuttle stallion Hello Youmzain (Kodiac), who carried its yellow & black chequered colours to victory in the prestigious Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes 1200m at Royal Ascot.
An extremely well-bred colt on the Danehill (Danzig) sire line, out of a Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway) mare, Hello Youmzain won two Group One sprint races on his way to becoming a leading European sprinter.
Retired to stud in 2021, Hello Youmzain has produced 86 individual winners including seven stakes’ winners.
“It was good to get that win on the board by Signoretti, especially after finishing second three times in five starts, and he’s a nice horse going forward for Brendan and Jo (Lindsay) and the team of Cambridge Stud,” said trainer Mark Walker.
“The stock of Hello Youmzain they’re really starting to hit their straps now as three-year-olds. He’s got a lot of promising horses in training and I think the New Zealand breeding industry is lucky to have his services available.
“He’s going the right way, Signoretti, and he’ll definitely gain more confidence in his abilities following the win.
“He was strapped by Emma Wilson, who rides him in a lot of his work, as well. She’s been very patient and has got him going really well.”
Signoretti is a direct descendant of Group 1 Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay (Marscay), as his fourth dam, while out of a mare by Australian Champion Sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) that recorded two wins to 1400 metres.
His third dam, Bollinger (Dehere), was also a Group 1 winner of the Coolmore Classic 1500m, and the family has produced plenty of stakes' winners.
