Avondale Update

Four of the original six runners for Te Akau at Avondale on Monday have been scratched (with the remaining two possibly to be scratched depending on the track on Monday morning) with over 88 mls of rain falling in the past four days and very heavy track conditions.


Te Akau New Zealand currently has two horses remaining in entries for the seven-race programme on Monday August 26 at Avondale. Four of the original six have been scratched due to heavy track conditions and trainer Jason Bridgman will make a decision on the final two at scratch time Monday morning.


As at 9:59am on Sunday Aug. 25 the conditions were: raining and Heavy10, rail out 3 metres. The track has received 88mls of rain since last Wednesday night.


12:42pm R1 6 Cold Snap (5 m Pins - Forty Two Below) - Matt Cameron; is scheduled to resume in the Benchmark 75 1200 metres, following a 79-day break. Two starts ago, on this course, she was beaten a short-head on footing downgraded to Heavy10 in the corresponding race. The footing started out Slow8 that day and the time for her race was 1:14.97. Positives are drawing barrier one in the first race, but she may be reserved for another meeting.


3:34pm R6 9 Fast Fiction (4 g Fastnet Rock - Paperback) - never really received clear galloping room on Aug. 19 in the Benchmark 65 1000 metres on Dead4 footing at Taupo. He has drawn barrier five in the Benchmark 65 1200 metres. Three starts ago, he recorded a five-length debut victory on June 6 in Maiden 3YO 1100 metres on Heavy10 ground at New Plymouth. He has shown to handle wet, loose footing in training.
