Beautiful autumn

David writes:

It has been an absolutely beautiful autumn at Te Akau and I cannot remember ever having so much grass at this time of the year.  Good quality grass and this stock are doing really well.  We have a big number of horses spelling here at the moment and going around this morning taking their covers off, you could see just how they are thriving.  It is great weather for horses to spell because today was a high of 22% and you can see the horses just thriving.

Leading the ANZ bloodstock website this morning was another announcement from the NSW Parliament with an announcement of a $2.15million upgrade to the Tamworth Racecourse.  The press release went on to say that these improvements will transform Tamworth Racecourse into one of the finest country tracks in New South Wales.  Wouldn't it be great if our parliament showed the same sort of interest in racing that the governments in Australia do. The press release further said that the Minister for Racing, the Honourable George Souris welcomed the funding for Tamworth Racecourse saying that the New South Wales Government was committed to supporting and encouraging country and provincial racing. Don't forget this is on the back of the $150 million that Randwick and Rosehill got for their stand and course improvements.  All our government does is  sit back and watch the greyhound code dictate who the Chairman of the Racing Board is.  Can you imagine in any other business a code with 10% of the turn over deciding who the next chairman of the Racing Board could or will not be. It is all just a sad joke.

Yesterday afternoon we won the last race at Marlborough with Sovereign Rose, a Pins mare that I bought for Dave and Nicky Hurst.  She has been the unluckiest mare that we have had in the stable all season and I am delighted to see her win her last two races in such convincing style.

We  did not have any luck in the Singapore races this weekend but I was delighted to see Super Easy, a Darci Brahma 4 year old entire come back and win a Group One race in Singapore.  Darci Brahma stands this year at The Oaks for $40,000 which I believe is great value for a stallion with the record that he has.
