Our latest video catches up with Ben to reflect on Lara Antipova’s brilliant victory in the Listed Michael Moroney (1400m), the work behind her winning performance and an exciting spring ahead for our Cranbourne stable.

Fresh from being crowned New Zealand’s Champion Two-Year-Old, Lara announced herself on the Australian stage in style. Under a patient ride from Mark Zahra, she found her gap and powered away to claim her fifth victory from just six starts, and her first on Australian soil.

It was a win that carried extra significance for the team. The inaugural running honoured the late Michael Moroney, a great friend and former Matamata training colleague of Mark Walker, making Lara’s success a particularly meaningful one.

For Fortuna Racing and her proud owners, it was another memorable chapter in an already outstanding young career. It was also a fitting reward for the dedication of Mark, Ben and our Cranbourne team, including Lara’s strapper Wyatt Jenkins, whose care and work behind the scenes help make these moments possible.

With the Group 1 Thousand Guineas firmly in Lara’s sights, there is plenty to look forward to as her Australian campaign unfolds.
