Black Type on Board
Date: 23 Sep 2014
It has been a great start to the season for Te Akau NZ trainer Jason Bridgman.
Over the weekend, Te Akau horses ran brilliantly with the stand-out result coming with Darci's Dream - being the first to put Te Akau on the black type leaderboard for the new season when winning the Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes.
Other head-turning efforts came from Chambord when second at Hawkes Bay - a race he should have won but bad luck thwarted that. Flaming ran an outstanding race to finish second behind a Group 1 winner in the Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes and Longbeach ran a super race for third.
Flaming looks like a filly on the move and now with her first black type performance tucked away, she has her eyes firmly set on the Group 1 1000 Guineas - as do a number of Te Akau's other 3YO fillies - exciting times ahead.
Jason is currently third on the Trainers' Premiership - with 10 wins, seven 2nd and six 3rd placings - from only 43 runners. That equates to an outstanding strike rate of just 4.3. Now with one Group and Listed title, stakes won for our owners stand at $137,000.
