Boom Bazinga
25 August, 2014
Fresh from his 200th Singapore career win at Kranji on Friday night, Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker was at it again on Sunday.
Bazinga (apparently and appropriately that terms means "gotcha") surprised punters with a narrow but solid win on Sunday. Having his 46th start, the son of Fastnet Rock had not won since May 2013 so could have been termed "the forgotten horse".
Settled mid field by Kiwi rider Lisa Allpress, the now 7YO was patiently handled by her and with around 300m to run he improved to fifth and was asked the question. He responded with plenty of heart to record his eighth career win.
To give you an idea of how fantastic stakes are in Singapore - in his 46 starts Bazinga has won eight and placed 12 times. He has been unplaced on 26 occasions but on almost each of those has still earned the $900 starters' incentive for his owners, Remarkable Stable.
In total he has now earned a staggering $387,112 in Singapore, a great result indeed.
Mark has taken his tally to 35 wins, 43 second and 38 third placings for the season with over $1.7 million in prizemoney earned for our owners in the season's eight months to date. He currently lies in sixth place on the Singapore Trainers' Premiership.
