As you may know,  there is a very good horse racing at the moment called Volkstok'n'barrell - he has had four starts for three wins.  Te Akau stable rider Matt Cameron has been aboard this horse for his last three starts and delivered a winning performance on every occasion.

I have encouraged Matt to ride this 3YO gelding when he has the option in the future. It's very seldom a jockey gets on an exceptional horse and Volkstok'n'barrell looks to be the case.

I don't think its in anyone's interest for Matt to get off this good horse. With that in mind, we have engaged James McDonald, Sydney's champion jockey and former stable jockey for Te Akau Racing, to ride Rockfast at Ellerslie on 1 January in the Great Northern Guineas.

It will be great to have Macca back in the country and even better with his Te Akau tangerine back on!
