Counties Preview
30 April, 2013
Two Te Akau girls race at the Counties meeting on Wednesday.
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the seven-race programme on Wednesday May 1 at Pukekohe.
As at 8:40am on Tuesday April 30 the conditions were: fine and Slow7, rail True.
2:35pm R5 4 Darci's Gold (4 m Darci's Gold - Golden Dawn) - Matthew Cameron; proved too good after racing near the lead when resuming from a spell on April 15 in the Benchmark 75 1200 metres on Dead5 at Avondale. Penalised a couple of kilos for the win, she carries 57kgs in the corresponding event and was narrowly beaten at her only course attempt. Her credentials for the race are very solid - winning form is good form - and drawing wide could also work in her favour depending on the pattern of racing by mid-afternoon.
3:45pm R7 11 Urban Angel (4 m Savabeel - Tutuland) - Matthew Cameron; recorded an eye-catching trial when third at Cambridge, behind subsequent winner Trendy, in preparation to resume from 110-day break in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres. Her two course attempts, both on heavy footing, produced a top run for second and a courageous fifth in very testing conditions. A mare that gives one-hundred and ten percent, she has shown to act in a freshened state and drawing barrier eleven should prove advantageous.
