Last year at the 2015 Ready to Run Sale, David bought an Iffraaj colt out of the five-time winning Generous mare Double Elle - Generous of course the winner of the Group 1 English Derby.  He was a good looking chestnut, nice and strong and he looked a real "ready to get up and run" type.

His owners named him Gingernuts and our judgment was spot on!

On debut he showed plenty of potential when racing greenly but still finishing a good second to another of our juveniles who we rate highly in Hall of Fame.  At his second start the penny had obviously started to drop and, with his mind on the job, away he went racing home for an easy win.

We have given Gingernuts a good break after these two races and look forward to him treading a path towards the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas - a race we have won five times in the past 11 years with King's Chapel, Darci Brahma, Tell A Tale, Rock'n' Pop and who could forget Xtravagant this season - and in race record time!

When we had the chance to buy "Gingernuts2" we jumped at it - after all we are so impressed by his brother - why wouldn't we 'go back for seconds'.

"Gingernuts2" is a strapping colt, well muscled and athletically strong - very precocious, he looks to our eye to be a certain 2YO runner.  Already broken in beautifully, we are looking to have him ready to trial in September.  His breeder tells us he has been called "Iggy" since the day he was foaled.

"Gingernuts2" - can't wait to see his own new name - comes from a family brimmed full of Australasian Group 1 success and of winners who win not a handful of races but 10 races, 12 races etc.  Group 1 Telegraph winner Guiseppina is a close relative as is Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas' winner The Pooka and in Australia, Group 1 Underwood Stakes' victor Rubiscent.  This lad has "Derby" stamped all over him.

We just love this guy and his breeder told us that "Iggy" has been just a delight to handle since day one.  He has settled in brilliantly to stable life - and his breeder loves him so much he has taken a share in him too!
