Fabulous Filly's Foal
15 July, 2015
King's Rose, the Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas' winner and NZB Filly of the Year when trained by Te Akau Racing has successfully moved to the new part of her career.
This classy filly sewed up Te Akau's fourth (of five in total) NZB Filly of the Year title well before the end of the series when claiming the Group 2 Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic at Te Rapa.
Now her colt has fetched over $2 million at the recent JRHA Select Sale in Japan ...
One of the early highlights during the yearling session at the 2015 JRHA Select Sale in Hokkaido, Japan on Monday was the first foal of New Zealand bred Redoute's Choice mare King's Rose.
Winner of the Group I New Zealand One Thousand Guineas and Group I placed in Australia on several occasions, King's Rose is one of a number of high profile Australasian mares that have been bought by the Japanese in recent years.
Consigned for sale by Northern Farm, the striking brown colt with four white feet is by Champion Japanese Sire Deep Impact, a son of legendary sire Sunday Silence.
Offered as Lot 19, he was knocked down to Hajime Satomi for 195,000,000 yen, a sum that equates to around $A2.1 million.
A full brother to King's Rose fetched $300,000 at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when consigned for sale by Broadwater Thoroughbreds and bought by Peter Moody, who trained King's Rose in the latter part of her career in Australia.
Her dam Nureyev's Girl has a weanling filly by Exceed and Excel and will foal again to the same sire this spring.
