Four Winners in Eight Hours
1 January, 2016
Te Akau Racing has started 2016 the way it finished 2015 - in winning style! And in two countries!
As we write Te Akau Racing New Zealand claimed two wins at Hastings while Te Akau Racing Singapore has kick started the new year with two wins already!
Here is our first win at Hastings today ... back to back for "the Rose" ...
Latin Rose (4 m Mastercraftsman - Down View, by Gone West) became the first winner for Te Akau in the New Year when taking out the Robyn Mactaggart Cup (Rating 65, 1400m) on 1 January at Hastings.
It was back-to-back wins by the striking chestnut mare and her second from only four starts, after resuming with a smart performance in the Trinity Hill Maiden 1400 metres on Dec. 10 at Hastings.
Utilising barrier one to co-lead for rider Johnathon Parkes, she settled into a comfortable tempo, saw off her rival at the 300m and kept finding to hold a late challenger at bay.
Sharing favouritism with the second horse, La Adelita, Latin Rose returned $3.60 & $1.40 on the tote and ran the 1400 metres in 1:23.3 on Dead4 footing.
A half-sister to Mexican Rose (Volksraad), the champion 2YO & 3YO in Singapore, having first impressed winning two of three in NZ, Latin Rose has quite a rich pedigree.
She was purchased by David Ellis after being withdrawn from the 2013 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale and races in the ownership of her vendor Jamieson Park, along with Craig & Lisa Compain, Pat Dyer, Ronald Lau, June & Ruth Locker, Paul Martin, & Oliver Saxton.
Jamieson Park is offering a half-brother by Ocean Park (Thorn Park), Lot 266 at NZB Premier Yearling Sale in January at Karaka.
