Gingernuts Voted No.1

How excited are we all??!!  VERY!!!

On Monday the Auckland Racing Club staged its final raceday for the season at Ellerslie - this day has now become renowned for the Ellerslie Awards - each season the Ellerslie Horse of the Year, Trainer and Jockey of the Year and Performance of the Year are announced.

This year our dual Group 1 winner Gingernuts was a finalist in the 'Performance of the Year' - for his scintillating last-to-first win in the Group 2 Avondale Guineas - after missing the start by five lengths.  It still gives us goosebumps watching that video (you can see it on our facebook page as well as under videos on our website). For the first time this year, members of the public could vote for this category together with Auckland Racing Club members.

We are BEYOND proud that Gingernuts was not only awarded with the "PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR" for the Guineas but also named

ELLERSLIE HORSE OF THE YEAR!!!

Well done everyone - we are delighted for his owners and so proud of you Jerry (as we know him).  Some of the 'G'nuts brigade' were on hand to accept the award (below left Craig Saunders and right Nathan Pene with their wonderful mini-support team).  We thought you would also enjoy the main picture taken of Jerry over the weekend - he is enjoying life back in the stable - bring on the Spring!
