Going, Going, Almost Gone

Today we started to sell shares in a new PENTIRE colt that we have just secured yesterday - he was passed in at Karaka and has a ton of class about him.  And check out who his brother is! AND 80% IS NOW SOLD!!

Pentire of course is the sire of dual Group 1 winner Xtravagant as well as Melbourne Cup Winner Prince of Penzance - he's going great guns this sire - and our new colt's half brother is none other than Timekeeper who won the Group 1 Easter Handicap beating November Rain and Sir Slick - the winner of five races (three at Group/Listed level) and $366,146 in prizemoney.

Timekeeper had won the Group 3 Manawatu Classic by six lengths at his start prior to the Group 1 Easter and when he won that iconic event in 2010, he became the first three-year-old to win since Status in 1990, and his winning time of 1:34.2 was the third fastest in the previous 10 years.

In the December (2009) Timekeeper was still a 17-race maiden but wnet on to win four races - two at Group level, as well as running fourth in the Gr II Championship Stakes at Ellerslie and fifth in the Gr I $2.2 million New Zealand Derby.

So our colt has some very well credentialled relations!

His dam has had six foals to race and five are winners - it's a lovely family that includes an American Derby winner and Keeneland, Arlington, Santa Anita and Louisana stakes' winners and performers.

This colt was on our "shopping list" for sure - but you cannot buy them all!  However we had him still on our minds and decided that given our shares in our 29 yearlings have all sold so well - we would see, if by slim chance, he was still available.

We are delighted to report that his owner had taken him home and thought he would race him himself - but we have managed to buy him!

What a good looking lad he is too!
